Curator - Molly Georgetta
Having spent her childhood antiquing with her parents, letterpress printing her own birthday party invitations, and staring at a print of Ammi Phillips' "Girl in a Red Dress," Molly Georgetta was raised to appreciate art, craft, and quality. Her education at Portland State University as an Arts & Letter major with an Art History concentration included stints interning at The Portland Mercury and Compound Gallery. Recently, Molly became Compound's newest, and youngest, curator.
Gallery Assistant - Kat Gifford
Kat is the newest member of the Compound gallery team. Native to Portland Oregon, she credits her artist and musician parents with instilling in her an appreciation for art's physical value and centering qualities. Watching her mother paint introduced her to how art can soothe, and getting involved in her father's jam sessions taught her how music can make art physical and fluid. After beginning her own studies privately and with friends, she decided to study fine arts at Pacific Northwest College of Art, where she earned a degree in Illustration. Kat has remained in Portland, where she has continued painting, developing her design portfolio, and raising a family of house plants.
Mission Statement
As an established and innovative venue, Compound Gallery's goal is to respond quickly to what is happening in the local, national and international contemporary art scene. We strive to encourage artists to experiment freely and to create content that investigates new intersections among art, design and contemporary culture.
