MISSION STATEMENT
After years of promoting the American art scene, Compound Gallery has realized that something is missing... independent and underground Japanese artists have no voice here and we want to change that. Each time we travel to Japan, we meet more of these exceptional artists, and are impressed by their innovative, fresh ideas. At the same time, the American art scene is hungry for new and original artists to follow. It is time to expose the American audience to Japanese artworks. It is time to bring together the American art collector and the Japanese artist. This is our goal at Compound Gallery.

TRISTAN EATON
"As a graffiti artist turned illustrator turned toy designer, Brooklyn's Tristan Eaton embodies the kind of hybrid multi-tasking style that is the hallmark of the modern urban artist. Moving from pencil and paper to paint brush and canvas to Macintosh to city wall, Eaton switches gears effortlessly, refusing to commit fully to any one medium as he goes."

Jamie Oshea
Former Editor, JUXTAPOZ Magazine

Born in Los Angeles in 1978, Tristan began pursuing street art as a teenager, painting everything from billboards to dumpsters in the urban landscape wherever he lived, including London, Detroit and New York. Eaton designed his first toy for Fisher Price at 18 years old and has since become a driving force in the world of 'Designer Toys'. As a creative leader in the world of advertising, Eaton regularly consults such brands as Hasbro, Pepsi and Nike on many creative projects spanning from city streets to gallery walls and everywhere in-between.

Tristan is currently the President and Creative Director of
THUNDERDOG STUDIOS, INC., a prominent New York based Designer Toy Brand and Creative Agency and happily resides in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
RYAN BUBNIS
Ryan Bubnis' clean yet chaotic style has been described as "urban folk" or an electric folk pop explosion. Through his paintings, he comments on themes relating to the human condition. Vibrant, abstracted shapes and faces radiate joy and optimism while they float in and out of rich, multi-layered realms.

Working intuitively he incorporates a range of mediums that include found objects, paper, wood, canvas, spray paint, acrylics, cel vinyl, sandpaper, pencil and India ink. He draws inspiration from life, graffiti, Saturday morning cartoons and outsider art from a variety of cultures. Bubnis has spent the last several years developing a respected following among collectors.

Born in California in 1975, he received his BFA in illustration from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 2006. His work has been shown extensively throughout the US, Taiwan and Canada. He has been featured in publications such as Nintendo Power, Clout, Vapors and Juxtapoz magazines. Some of his clients include Kid Robot, P.N.C.A., Ooba, The Portland Mercury, Gama-Go, ABC and 20th Century Fox. He currently resides in Portland, Oregon with his wife Cecilia and their cat Mr. Boo.
